Zellmar Bros. Circus 1926 #3

Something you don't see every day, an act presented by two one-legged performers.

Even more suprising, it was a tap dancing act with a lot of high kicking during the Can-Can finale ; )

Tim Holst would deem the act incomplete and cut the salary 25%.

One of the more successful tap dance acts of the past was "Peg Leg Bates", and he was exactly what the name implies.

Buckles,

In 1977 Jimmy Hall and I did an act, at Marineland, that everybody said was "half-assed". Is that the same as "one-legged"? We stopped the act because John Cuneo, didn't appreciated the effort that went into being "half-assed".
My best to you and your fine family. Wade Burck

Oh, come now Wade. I was there at Marineland in '77. Half-assed as yours and Jimmy's routine was, Cuneo's review was fair and acurrate. And besides, he's not particularly known for appreciating one's efforts anyway, half-assed or otherwise, now is he?!!!

Hey
One of the gentlemen in this photo is my grandfather. Is there anyway to get in touch with Buckles? I'd like to learn more about these years in the Zellmar Bros. circus. I also have a few of the photos you have posted as well as some others you may be interested in. I'd appreciate any help. Thanks much.
