Post Card #2/ "Fearless Fagan"

Floyd Humeston and "Fearless Fagan". Wasn't this a movie lion?
I remember Al Capp's detective "Fearless Fosdick".

Right, Fagan was one of Mel Koontz's Jackie lions out of World Jungle Compound. The male lead, Carleton Carpenter, bore an uncanny resemblance to a young Dick Van Dyke. Co-starring was Janet Leigh, Keenan Wynn, and Parley Baer. Jackie got rave reviews for this 1952 comedy.

All do respect to the MGM Lion. But That kitten that was used on the Mary Tylor Moore show opening was one of the greatest animal things I remember seeing on TV. I am or was not a great house cat person. Until I raised a 2 day old kitten that was abanded by its mother. It is now three years old and the most beautiful female cat I have ever seen "BETT-Y" is her name as I had bets as to wether she would make it. She is solid black. The first month was the pits, but I learned from it. I now have 11 of these abanded creatures. All spayed and neutered of course.

I just finished browsing over at newspaperarchive.com.
There is a really interesting newspaper article about
Charles W."Chang"Reynolds
in the
(Pasendena)Independent Star News October-18-1959.(page 3)
It includes a photo of Chang Reynolds with Bill Woodcock Sr.
and also Anna May the elephant.
According to the article Chang Reynold's favorite elephant was
"Josky" of the Carson&barnes Circus,
shoudler height 8 feet five inches, weight 9500 lbs.
maybe someone cam scan the newspaper article and post it here?

It's great to see this photo of Floyd and Fagan.

I was acquainted with Floyd back in the late 1960s when he and my father both worked for the Los Angeles County Museum of Natural History.

If I remember correctly he told me that the lion in the movie Fearless Fagan was his lion Fagan, and not one of Mel Koonzt's cats.
