Bare chested animal trainers #5

This is the cover of a 1935 "Sawdust" magazine but I was unable to find a mention of the trainers name. Did see however, that the magazine sold for six pence at the time.

I believe that is the English trainer who called himself 'Togare'. Featured on Bertram Mills Circus on and off

Sorry, my bad - Togare was Italian - a pupil of Alfred Court

This is Togare (Georg Kulovits) he was Karl Krone's protege', he debuted with Krone around 1921, with 8 Lions & 4 Tigers, and was there till 1928. This picture was probably taken with Circus Carmo, in England in 1929, wotking with 9 Lions. If my German was better I could be more definite. There are 7 pages on him in the book, "The High School of Wild Animal Trainers", by Hans Jurgen & Rosemarie Tiede.

My mistake too, this was in the Jan.-Feb. issue of 1936.

Togare was born, George Kulovits, on March 26, 1900, in Graz, Austria, the son of a Hungarian Blacksmith, his mother was Austrian. He originally worked on Krone under the name "Helios", The name "Togare" was given to him by Ida Krone in 1926. To correct myself this picture seems to be 1926 Circus Krone.
