Mr. Barnes ran into personal financial difficulties and sold his circus to the mighty American Circus Corporation. 1929 was the first season under the new ownership. (You will notice that the steel arena remains in the center ring throughout the entire performance. A remnant of the early days when the the Barnes Show was 100% animal acts).

Here are some tidbits I found in a couple old Billboards I have bought.
Bob
Launching of Barnes Circus – Articles incorporating Al G. Barnes Show Company were filed with the Secretary of State at Denver in February 1908. Company had some 40 lions and tigers, elephants, bears and ponies, many of which formerly comprised Al G. Barnes Menagerie. Interested with Al G. Barnes were D.A. Barnes and Otto C. Floto.
Barnes tour halted – Al G. Barnes tour was halted in California by foot and mouth disease latter part of March 1924, after show was out two weeks.
Barnes Wreck – Al G. Barnes circus Train was wrecked middle of July 1930, at Canaan, N.B., Canada. Five flat cars containing baggage wagons and three sleepers were piled up and badly damaged. Three men, two of them troupers were killed and 12 workingmen injured.
Barnes Death – Al G. Barnes 68, former owner of Al G. Barnes Circus died July 25, 1931 on Robeson Ranch near Indo, CA.
in today's circuses "Fairy Queen" is liabl to have a very different meaning
To: L.A. Dean,
Before making a statement you should research what the Fairy Queen, Ethlyn Allis was? No disrespect intended. Also In regaurds to display No. 20, Ring 1, (Zeigfeldian Beauties in a Series of Poses), I just love that title! I now know what I'm going to say the next time I visit peeking a'gogo for lunch, "Yes, yes It's a gentleman's club.
Again from Billboard,
Kennedy Show Blowdown – Con T. Kennedy Shows suffered a blowdown at Muskogee, Oklahoma, April 17, 1914. Heavy losers were John T. Backman Animal Show, Aztec Village and Eli Wheel.
I don't know if the above named John T. backman and the Barnes producer are one and the same or not.
Bob
Wasn't there a Backman & Tinsch Carnival?
hey buckles, how long was tusko with the barnes show? all i could find was that the show sold him shortly after black diamond killed that woman in texas; oct 12, 1929.
BTW I had read where the elephant in this photgraph is actually"Black Diamond">
Due to the fact that The real Mighty Tusko was left at the AL.G Barnes winter quarters because he was in heavy musth for a number of weeks if not months that season.
Buckles,
I found one mention of a Backman Tinsch Trained Wild Animal Shows in 1919. The article mentions the advance crew of billposters starting to paste the town for the 2 performances of wild and domestic animals coming to their town.

One more Billboard note I found:
Barnes New Quarters - Al G. Barnes latter part of February 1927, bought for Barnes Circus for winter quarters purposes 300 acres of land near Baldwin Park, Ca. Consideration more than $1,000,000.
There was a show named Backman's Circus 1911-1918 and John T. Backman was the properitor.
From 1919-1921 there was the Backman & Tinsch Circus operated by John T. Backman and Al Tinish.
In 1921 there was a show known as Palmer Brois. Circus operated by W. F. Palmer, John T. Backman and Al Tinish.
