To Rebecca

This is a picture of Ben and family taken from the 1994 Big Apple program. Ben's wife is Darlene Williams and his half sister is also Darlene Williams which leads to some confusion.
Stormy on "Ned" at left is now serving in the Navy and is stationed in Jacksonville.
Skye on "Amy" at right will be a Senior in High School next Fall.

Good morning. I have been having trouble posting a comment. I don.t know if I am doing somethng wrong or what. Any way here goes. I, for one, am sick and tired of hearing this crap about Irvin Feld saving the Ringling show. It wasn't true true then and isn't now.Mr. Feld did not have anything to do, in any way, shape or form what so ever, with RBBB going indoors. Art Concello was given complete control by John North. AMC had the "yes and the no" and no one else. He decided who what and would promote the show. Mr. Feld was given ONLY a portion of the route to handle. This conti nued up until the tine the whow was sold. Please let me repeat, irvin Feld was not involed with the decision to go indoors.
another example of the big lie is that the shwo was on its last legs until Mr. Feld came along and "saved" it. The show was and had been a winner. Not only from a performance and production and but, just as importantly from the box office end. Video and audio tapes give ample evidence as to the quality and caliber of the performance. As to everyting else it is a matter of public record. the Billboard and a couple of books. As for the so called press agents, oops sorry, public relations peoiple who even today continue to spread these stories, wldfd, shame on you. Robert L. Mitchell

The beauty of this picture is more then I had hoped for. Ben can be very proud of his girls. All of them. This picture is priceless and a tribute to a real circus family that worked together to make a life that others just dream of. Its the only picture I have seen where Ben has clothes on. Wonderful Ben. You did your family proud. Thank you Buckles for helping these young people make a wonderful life that is beyoud belief sometimes.

Right on Bob Mitchell about the Ringling Show - Also, the Ringling Show had $2 Million in Reserves when the show was purchased which was passed on to the new owners. Not bad for a show supposedly on its last legs. So in reality the purchase price of $8 million was actually $6 Million when you throw in the reserves. Somehow, that info is always omitted.

There is another way of looking at it tho. When Irvin Feld announced he was taking out a second unit of RBBB in 1969, everyone from John Ringling North down to myself scoffed and said the idea was preposterious.
Others said he would probably cut the show in half and take out two 15 car units.
Even tho the show was turning a profit, he was the only one who could see the potential and did as promised. He thought big.

How come the pictures I took of Ben and Darlene, she's a blonde ,and in this picture she looks more like a brunette -- first Bill tells us that Trudy isn't a real redhead -- are you telling us that Darlene isn't a Blond now ??? How can a person deal with all this subterfuge ( spelling ?)???

Jim, We are all silver haired now. Male and female. And we all look beautiful.

Jim, Except Barbara. Like JC taking his with him to the Big Lot, Barbara will take her famous red hair. With all her talent and winning personality, its her hair that always gets the attention.

It is not always Barbara's hair that gets the attention. Think about that one.

That's kinda true. Barbara always Lit up a room or ring wherever she was. She oozed Class and Style, as or course the Capt did also, she is easier on the eyes tho!

Just read the "White Tops" from front to back. Wonderful back cover. Not just because of the blog artical but I think this is the best issue of "White Tops" I have ever read. I especially liked the artical about peta. Makes me proud to be a Circus Fan. If we could just keep the uninformed off the blog it would be great. I have no idea what this "gloria" person has againest me personally, and I could care less. Its when she tries to hurts the two wonderful people that I think the world of by her crude assumptions it isn't funny any more. The Cuneos have done so many wonderful things for the circus over many many years. I truely hope this does not affend them and they are laughing at the things that we know are untrue.
