Arzetta Widaman 1950

Ed Widaman was a retired Postal worker who somehow acquired this elephant "Zetta" in 1948 and managed to get Mac MacDonald to train her for him.
During the winter or 1950-51 he bought a second elephant and brought her to Hugo, OK where my dad and Fred Logan trained her in their spare time. She was named "Peggy" after MacDonalds wife and in 1953 Mac trained a third elephant for him named "Dorothy" giving the Widamans a well known three act which they presented thru 1961.

Buckles, Did your mom ever work with elephants in the ring with your dad? I have seen her with horses and dogs, but never with elephants.

Not your regular elephant "EMPRESS". She could probably teach us a thing or two about elephants. I liked the way Mrs Ray wore long gowns while performing with animals. I wore coctail dresses while trying to present Poodles. I had to try to look good as I sure as hell could not control the Poodles when Obert Miller came to the back door with his Pony act. The Poodles ran out of the ring to him.
