To Pat Cashin

Isn't this better? I think it was added in 1949 and as you can see, situated next to the back end blues, a long way to cue acts.
This vehicle is still around somewhere, it should be revived, today's Ken & Nicole band would have enough room to include a pool table, sauna and dining area. Not to mention a convenient place to hang their vests.

Ah, those K & N blurbs are so much more delicious knowing that their minions in Vienna are reading them. Don't stop. It's beeeeautiful!

The Bandstand itself while rusting out quite a bit when moved from Sarasota to Peru, is still in existance at the International Circus Hall of Fame in Peru, Indiana.

I have seen a couple of marvelous models of this wagon. Models completely fold up for train loading, etc. Some as large as 1" scale! I do not know if anyone is mass producing the wagon in in any scale.

If I'm seeing right, that fellow to the right of the tubas is my friend and fellow Texan, Boom-Boom Browning. He had the '64 Beatty show band and we became pals over there. I can't see in this picture, so correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Bubba Voss, another fine Texan, was in this band. He and his collection got a big spread in the Beaumont paper. I believe Ramon Escorcia was also with Merle at times, but I can't spot him here.

Circus Music is the Bomb! We had a hot band at C.W., in my day it was Bud Kowalski and his X Navy Band buddies. After I swallowed my pride and got a job at disney, I discover that the players with the best chops are drawn to the Circus to show of their skills. Sad big bands are all but extinct, even at disney.

Back in High School, I played in the band and had to TRY out for the Honors Band by playing "Barnum and Baileys Favorite." One of the most reconized songs in the world. BUT it is tough when you're not so good with your instrument!

Buckles,

Thanks for the lowdown on the bandstand. The more I learn, the more there is to find out...
