I have known what a Doniker is for a long time, but I have never been able to find out the origins of the word.

I would like to say they were named after J. Augustus Doniker but I don't have a clue.
Thank you to who ever created the "DONIKER" I know how to use it, I don't need to know who it is named after. I would name it "PETA"
One old-time showman told me it was named after the highly respected Colonel Don E. Kerr. I regret I have no further history on the Colonel.
On Krone they got a big kick out of me referring to the tank wagon, as the, "Honey Wagon".
The German words "Donner Kerl" we might translate as "thunder guy," for the esteemed fellow who tends the thunder wagon. ???
One day in 1885 P. T. Barnum told a messenger, "Go ask if the Donner Kerl got set up," and by the time he crossed the lot, the frightened kid remembered it as, "Boss wants to know if the donniker is ready yet." No one argued with what the boss wanted to call things.
If you knew how much rust I had to knock off the wheels of my time machine to go back and witness that scene, you might appreciate the history, fictional though it may be.

I have seen movie credits that mention the HONEY WAGON. I am probably one of the few that was more interested in the credit part of the movie than the show its self.
How many Blog readers remember Congo who took care of the Doniker wagon on Circus Vargas. He was a fixture on the show.
A fan from Milwaukee, Jack "Tiny" Stagg entered one of the Donikers early in the morning either on Carson & Barnes or Kelly-Miller several years age. While he tending to business the truck attached to the Doniker trailer left the lot for the next town. Everyone was surprised to see Tine emerge fro the Doniker when the trailer was spotted on the new lot.
Tiny is no longer with us. He is in the Big Top in the sky.
Rebecca, you said before that you never watched a movie. That you could not stay interested or sit still that long. What are you talking about here? Uh huh. Gotcha.

Gloria, I haven't seen a movie since Tarzen the ledgen {?} of Graystone. Thats about 20 years ago. I do or did buy tapes to play at home so I could stop and return to when I wanted to. The last one was "As Good As It Gets" Why is it so important to you that you "GET" me?
Just to show you that you talk way too much and tell little white lies, shall we say? Forgetting what you have said in the past. It sure does not matter to me if we "get" you or not. Some of us just know how you are from way back. WAY back!

IF you did some naughty things? What a memory, you have forgotten what you want to. Naughty as in being the "ho" (we all know what that REALLY means) of john Cuneo for years while he was married, for starters. Running around to become what you named yourself, a "dutchess" We have never heard it called that one before.

those of us who love animals care about the welfare of all animals regardless of species.
right now, circuses are on my radar, as are several other issues.
but circuses in particular are especially cruel situations for the animals that are forced to perform in them, as you are aware.
the goal is to eliminate animal circuses, or at least make their operation subject to serious laws and penalties.
Have you ever worked on or for a Circus or Zoo for that fact? If you have you wouldn't be in the company you have slipped into. I have spend my life even as a child careing for animals and I and alot of other Caring Animal Handlers take personal offense to the BS you Bunny Huggers spill out of your mouths. Are there a few bad animal people?- Yes I don't and don't know anyone that denies that but the same goes for everything in the world. There are Bad Apples everywhere but the majority of Animal People do care and do there best to provide the best care for our animals. If you think the animals are all abused then again you have never stood next to a real live Elephant and heard them rumble a sweet rumble when they recognize you. And I know for damn sure you have never been able to hug a Full Grown Male African Lion! You people think beating the hell out of an animal makes them act that way? You and your group of fanatics are dead WRONG! You think extinction is natureal then your probably correct because mankind ain't far behind the rest of the spiecies. I hope you are comfortable tonight as you sleep because I can assure you some animal person will be up all night with a sick or injured animal! You have a good life but I would hope you had a real look at our lives and stories on this blog. I guess you want to pay the blacks in America money because of what our ancestors did to them too huh?
Buckles sorry to keep you up all night moderating, but the more I think about it the more pissed I become. When they persecuted Mary Chipperfield, they had over 1000 hours of hidden video footage. Out of that they were able to get 15 minutes of questionable stuff, like for instance the 60 year old Mary giving a 2000 lb camel a whack with her walking stick to move it into the pasture. Their agenda is full of lies and half truths and their lives are based on vilifying and destroying people. Damn at times like these I wish I hadn't quit drinking!!

I wish they would use their money and time going after the chicken fighters in Ok, NM and La. or the dog fighters in about every major city. Instead they go after old Col. Sanders because he frys chicken. They must all be vegetarians? And of course they attack this blog of yours?
