From KLSDAD

Hello, In regard to the discussion in Hagenbeck Tierpark #2 of May 26, here is a photo I took of two "Zeedonks" leaving NYC with the Blue Show in Mar. 2006.
I don't remember seeing them in the show, they must have used them in the Pre-Show.
I was watchng the elephant.

Personally, I like "Zonkeys" better.

"Help, help," cried Piglet, "a Heffalump, a Horrible Heffalump!"

I thank you for all the follow up. - Had never seen a horzee(I like that) The zebras in the original picture had the faded markings of a mix like a tiglon or liger. cc

Oh, and in our family they are hippydumps! cc

Yep, that's about all they do. Since there is NO RING on the blue show the animals can't do much but get lead around and get touched by the kids. The folks at RBBB should read that Carl Hagenbeck catalog and they'd not only see what WAS POSSIBLE but what might be possible with their re$ource$. Most (not all) of those getting a RBBB paycheck think Hagenbeck is just a prop shop and don't realize the name's great heritage.

I thought it was the red show that was ringless

In my brief Circus World animal adventure the zebras I met were tuff, ornery, it was like they had some sort of chip on their shoulder. Fortunately I knew this before I found myself their stall; earlier that year one of them had bit a groom in the penis requiring stitches and drugs to prevent wood. Armed with this knowledge and some “gypsy tricks” that Frank had taught me I had confidence and got a great up close encounter with these tuff guys in their stall. They were magnificent

More years ago than seem possible, Charlie Allen had a zebra that kicked basketballs.I remember you had to give wide berth to both ends for that same reason!cc

klsdad here...
In my post of this "zedonks" photo I'm correcting my spelling after I read it on a RBBB site.
Also the departure date of the Blue unit was April 17, 2006..(not March) to keep the record straight. They played the Garden Mar 23 - Apr 17.
