Clara Grow, named hereon at No. 12, was married to Alfredo Codona. Some insist her spelling was Gron. It is widely held that Lillian Leitzel paid Clara something like $1,000, a fortune in those days, to leave the show, clearing the way for Leitzel to marry Alfredo. Leonard Farley followed this story for decades and finally located Ms. Grow in retirement in Cincinnati. He told me she did not deny the story, but even those many years later was less than forthcoming about the circumstances of her departure, and he left with the events still shrouded in mystery.
The Silbon act was with Barnum Bailey (later RBBS) from 1898 thru 1931. They were often with other shows during the Winter season. This photo is from 1916. The only year the Codona's performed with them and just after returning from Australia tour for three years.
This is the first instance of the photo I have seen completely marked. The ones I know are correct. So am assuming the others are also. Do you know the source of this version?

Damn, those are some serious thighs on the girl on the left. Pity the catcher.
Thanks for this photo including Oscar. We did not previously have this in our Jordan collection.

I can relate to that story Roger. I wonder what the statute of limitations are on Kiss and Tell? The last one alive wins?
