I visited the location last winter before the statue was installed. It's too bad it has been placed in an out of the way place.The statute of John Ringling is prominently displayed at St. Armands in Sarasota
I don't recall ever seeing Gunther in a cape unless it would have been on one of his farewell tours.
Trying to work an exotic animal act so dressed would be difficult ar best but Jimmy Hall reminded me that he once did ride a team of horses Roman style with a flowing cape.
This statue is very beautyful. It just isn't Gunther. Gunther with out an animal of any kind is just not fitting. Thats what he was all about.
