Bridgeport, Connecticut Qtrs. #2

This post card gives an idea of the size of the Winter Quartes. At left you can see the car barns in which railroad cars entered and were repaired. The cages loaded on the flat cars had canvas covers to protect the animals as did the parade equipment.

I read where it was later became a low income area for a factory and houses which they recently tore down and now its a park with basketball and tennis courts.
Just think, someone playing hoops that was once the stall for Jumbo or the sacred white elephant over 120 years ago.

They built the winter quarters on a 10 acre lot.
The general public was not allowed inside, and I think thay had a high wooden fence built all around it .
It must have been like that movie Willy Wonka and the Choclate factory.9the good version from 1971)
People and townsfolk always wondering what was going on inside.
