Gentry Bros. Circus 1908


What a great parade picture! Two bass drums, you could probably hear the band coming a mile away and with the steam calliope in the rear there should be no doubt that the Gentry Show had arrived in town.
Looks like a woman tuba player and the two musicians in front have hardly left enough room for the poor teamster to see the road.

That's an old wooden snare drum with some depth to it like you would have seen marching bands in parades with. Nothing like those little thin (and thin sounding) metal ones used on most drum sets today. The player often put it up sideways like that on their lap to play so the snares on the bottom could rattle and be heard.
