Franz Althoff circa 1964

Now this is what the Incredible Shrinking Show needs to fill up that empty floor, Mr. Althoff is presenting 60 horses at one time as seen in this "Southern Sawdust" photo.
The article also mentions that the John Wayne movie "Circus World" was filmed on the Althoff Show.

I always wondered why a couple of men always stood at the back of the Ring during a horse act. Seems to me the horses knew when the act was over and wanted to go back to the coral. Sometimes before the act was over. I always thought horses were the easiest of animals to train, but you had to keep refreshing their memories. Once you found a smart horse you had a jewel. A dozen horses all decked out is a beautiful site. Kind of like a beautiful female. Who cares if they have brains!
