Terell Jacobs

This is Terrell Jacobs and his wire walking lioness "Sheba" featured in the late 1930's.
He also worked a big group in the Garden said to have reached 50, his wife Dolly also presented lion riding a horse in the program. Mr. Jacobs act was always concluded with fireworks coming up from around the arena,

Judy Jacobs visited me 3 or 4 times at Jungleland. We talked for hours about her father, Terrell Monroe Jacobs, The Lion King. She told me her father carried 55 cats on the 1939 Ringling show, and at various times worked as many as 52.

Sheba was probably as famous in her day as MGM's Leo, until things changed. Anybody remember the coverage she got when she became a he? As rare as hermaphrodism is, it occurs, and Sheba's was clinically proven by the top veterinarians of the day. After being Sheba long enough to become famous, she sprouted a mane, and physically evolved into a descriptive male.

I'm being awful here, but didn't we all know a kid in junior high school like that?
