Blue Show 1978 wardrobe #4

Here we are lined up for Opening. This was my wardrobe for both Opening and the leopard/elephant act. Was I quite fetching or what? Ben, Ted and Gary in the background.
We closed the Opening Pageant with a 19 elephant long mount with the entire cast and company in the rings and as we exited the band played Sousa's "Gladiator". Wow!

Son and Grandson are fetching also. Who is the smiley in the back ground?

This is Ted Svertesky, up to no good as usual. He remained with the Company and 15 years later was in charge of this herd but was unfortunately killed in the 1994 train wreck the second week out.

Geesh. I would have to ask!!! I have not heard from Clean Raul for a while. Hope he is OK! Is this Ted the one you replaced for a while? I get these guys mixed up. I sure miss OKIE. We always visited when Carson and Barnes played close. He recooped in Leadville Colorado when I lived in Denver for six months. His brother lived there, Wanting to be a trainer and actually becomeing one is not all it is cracked up to be. He found that out the hard way. I have also noticed that women usually replace the men in the cat acts. I think Patricia White replace Okie.

Yes I returned to the show to get Graham Chipperfield familiar with the herd and due to good behavior was granted an early release 14 months later.

My first day back on the show in 1994 was pretty hectic, I had to gather up a few clothes, drive to Orlando, work out the details with Kenny, familiarize myself with two or three half-tough elephants and finally get the keys from Mike Melson for a small state room on the train.
That evening, dead tired, after getting my gear stowed away, I walked down to the pie car and while enjoying my main line, I overheard some show girls in the next booth. One said "Isn't that terrible about Ted" and another answered "Yes, I wonder who they will get to replace him?" and a third gilr said "I heard they already got some old guy from Big Apple".
