Some of these pictures are worth a thousand words. But they speak for them selves and need no comment. Just looking at the past glories of circus days makes me glad I was a part of it. That is something no one can take away from us.
The 1933 spectacle was entitled"The Durbar of Delhi"
It was Ringling Bros. 50th anniversary show.
BTW Im not sure if color photography even existed in 1933,
If you look at the old National Geeographics,I think the photo's are B/W then colorised(I could be wrong)
A scientist measured and weighed all or most of the Ringling Bros. elephant herd in 1935.
Big Modoc had a shoulder height of 7 feet 10 inches
and weighed in at 9,180 lbs.
She was approx 48 years old.
Thats a mighty big elephant!
