Sparks Circus Parade #1


This tableau is used as the #2 band wagon in the 1910's.
From this angle you can't see much detail on the vehicle but I like the feeling of pictures like this, showing the teamster and brakeman at work, kids running along and people looking out windows.
The musicians are in a relaxed position having completed a selection. As mentioned before, no sheet music was needed since as the wagon moved along they had a new audience every block and played the same tune over and over.
"Two Tune" Albani would have loved to direct this band.

I like the hat and bare feet on one of the young boys. We need to bring hats back. Not just baseball caps. It looks odd not having policemen every four foot as the parade passes by. No barriers(sic) to keep the people back. Wonderful pictures
