RBBB Venice Qtrs. 1974 #3

They provided us with two old bull cars that had been in storage. These are two Billy Smart elephants "Rebecca" and "Gilda".
You may notice in the background a long chain coming out of the car and attatched to one of the elephants legs. This is called a "loading chain" which I used as a precaution since I wasn't comfortable with this particular elephant. As it turned out she followed the other two right in, which is usually the case.

Was the chain on Rebecca? She was always skeered of you for some reason? I remember once someone was there looking at the herd and you asked me to lay her down or something for that person. I felt quite proud you let me do it, when I think you didn't want her to crap herself and cry when you asked her! LOL! Gary

No that's Rebecca going up the ramp into the car.
Before I took over the elephants Hugo Schmitt had taken some up to the site for a ground breaking ceremony.
As I recall "Peggy" had been excluded for some reason so I figured that Hugo must have known something.

It seems like the gift of being a good chess player is important in the success of knowing and being known in the shrinking global elephant herd. Hat’s off to you Buckles, and thank you the opportunity to “Hob Knob” with the stars.
