This is my favorite elephant. I worked with her on Fairyland Circus. She is the one to do the famous POOP trick on me. I loved this elephant. She is one of the reasons I am fighting so hard to keep elephants in the circus.
The first elephants I ever worked in the ring was on the Texas dates in 1955. D.R. had booked three acts but was a herd worker short so I worked "Margaret", "Tena" and "Elsie" in one end ring or I should say, they worked me.
This hasnt anything to do with this phot,
but did you see that show on the
National Geographic Chanel last week?
It was called Nature's Nightmares,
Elephantsthe Drak Side.
It was about wild elephants attacking villages in India,
not for food but to get rid of the local populace.
It also was about the elephants of one of the temples, the big bull tuskers, and said when they went into musth they were uncontrolable, and they showed one big elephant in musth chained up
and he was swinging his trunk around like a big rubber hose.
It was in high definifination television.
One of the most intersting shows about elephants I have seen in years.
Not like those boring shows on the Animal Planet channel or Discovery channnel.
I hope the tape can be bought. My dogs have a tv with a vcr that they may let me borrow. The cats will not. As if I wanted to watch their bugs, birds, furry things on their tapes. Haven't watched TV for four years now. I have a security system with two TV so I can watch the dogs in the Kennel. Anyone over 60 can be weird if they want to. Love the socks Buckles. Margaret has a laugh on her face tho.
