Orton Bros. Circus 1916/ Coaches

I think the show was framed on about 12 cars, an offbeat number with the Advance car ahead. The three coaches shown here were named "Grace", "Nellie" and "Sarah" after his three daughters.

I'm curious. I know that Mr Hall's business has been throughly examined over the years in Bandwagon, but I've never had a chance to read that material. Did he have any particular affection of circus, or was it strictly a market he could exploit? Ben Wallace and Charles Hunt both started out in the livery business as well, but obviously were interested in the circus business as opposed to doing business with the circus. Did your father have a different view of Hall, having worked for him than the Ortons did, having been his customers?
