I like this picture, Mr. Patterson's portrait over the doorway, a nice looking ticket wagon under the elephant banner and American flags atop the banner line. I don't have a date on this but it is obviously on the back end of a carnival midway and the free act in front would be to bring the crowd back so they could "bally" each peformance. Patterson had quite a career, he bought the Gollmar Show in 1917 when they went out of business but this venture was unsuccessful, after returning to the carnival business he purchased the Gentry Show from Newman and Austin in 1923.
