Gentry Bros. Circus/ Calliope

1929 was the last year Floyd King used the Gentry title, the show folded in Paris, Tenn. on Oct. 22 and was soon auctioned off. The three elephants "Mama", "Danny" and "Eva" were sold to the O.L. Smith Shows and were often booked out as the "Maybelle Elephants". Buckles

Yes it is the same Cally-ope. Dr King owned it again (many years after this pic) on his truck show. And that's the way it is today in Pee-Rue. Ole Whitey (Billcar Whitey, not Cookhouse Whitey)

The calliope was parked across the street from the 2005 Peru Circus, building during Circus Week. Was in working order...It was great to see it in working order. And listening to the beautiful sounds. Also, great to see Buckles and John Herriott in Peru, IN last week...If you haven't been to Peru, IN during Circus Week, don't miss it next year.
