This photo could easily date from our disastrous Winter Tour of 1980. We went out in a Presidential campaign, and in every town day-and-dated either Carter or Reagan, so guess where the press went. Literally, in every show, our cast, crew, and animals outnumbered the audience--and this is 10,000 to 20,000 seat buildings. We died a thousand deaths, and when the Winston-Salem building quoted us $50K per day, Jerry Collins demanded, "Bring that son-of-a-bitch home." When Stinson sold a few tickets, Collins called him Timmy--when he failed the tour, Timmy became "that Ringling boy."
