Is this the same Freida that eventually was given to Frank Buck (in lieu of back wages due him from the 1938 Ringling season) and which ended her days in the Cleveland Zoo?
Eric: Yes this is the one. She was with the Barnes show in 1938, which after RBBB features were added played the RBBB fall route and came to Sarasota to winter but never went out again.
The other two Buck got- Yasso and Sparks Topsy- had been with RBBB at the beginning of that year but did not go to the Features show. Only four elephants from the mother show went to join Barnes: Big Modoc, the two Africans and Queen, their anchor. Chang thought it was Sparks Queen but other sources say Barnum Queen.
Frieda was destroyed years later in Cleveland due to a bad stroke. Wasn't she called "Osa" there?
Duhh OMS (Old men's syndrome)
I just noticed that Buckles had answered your question with a post above.
