I once read that Jerry Bangs was the "funniest clown who never wore a makeup". Seems he came out of a gag and literally banged into John Ringling, who indignantly demanded "that clown" be fired. Bangs had created some of the feature clown gags, so Pat Valdo kept him on staff, but minus the motley, forever unbeknownst to Mr. John.

I knew Lou Nagy on the Beatty show, but here see him named in parenthesis as (Bell). Maybe Pat Cashin can tell us if Lou was of the Bell family, or of Charlie Bell's troupe of clowns.
