From Mireille

I finally broke down and had Shannon show me how to post tapes that are occasionally sent to me.
I carefully wrote down the ten step sequence and this is my first effort.

Is the Bo?

Buckles,
I will defer to your expertize, but do you think he is a bit on the lean side? The "eye grease" appears to be disguising other "drainage".

The title of the tape is CIRCO CHINO DE PEKIN.
I gather this is a Chinese Circus.
The elephant is rather raw boned in build which makes him perfect for those power tricks which are usually lost as they grow up and gain weight.
The prop guy looks looks Spanish and learned how to roll a tub from Gunther.

This elephant goes by the name "Big Boy" and the show is from Mexico. Someone told me once that this animal is Bobby Stebbin's male "Louie" but I don't know for sure. If you click on the video screen, not the two "play" arrows, it will take you to the youtube page with more videos of him.

I don't think that prop boy would last very long on C&B, the boys there really knew how to roll the tubs and anyone that got in the way was in trouble. Sounds to me that the announcer played too important a role in the act. Too much talk and very little action for quite a while.

Buckles,
Again deferring to your expertize, I would have guessed him at 16-20. How raw boned should you keep them for power tricks, before it does physical damage in the future as they mature and gain weight? Or doesn't it have any bearing?

I saw this Male elephant(altho younger then) on Circo Union (Fuentes) when I worked for Humberto Paddilla (3RingbrosCircus)in Mexico..although I can't remember the presenters name...he also worked the Cage act(yes Wade/Casey..CAGE!!) he presented the Tigers dressed in a loin cloth ala Tarzan...However, He worked the cats like Clyde Beatty! (I thought.."Viva la Mexico") the first and ONLY time I have seen a Fightin Act!....But wait...just as I was gettin excited...He sent the cats back to their seats..(and to my disappointment) he shed his Pistola' and continued the act like GGW/Euro style....This was in Guadaljara Mx. in '96 (Union was playin the Wal-mart) In '94 I delivered Blasko's Male Roman to Mexico (He thought it was goin to a Zoo, which it did, Fuentes Zoo) and I have heard they taught him the same trick...I am not quite sure if This one is Roman or the one I saw first...However I would bet my 2-headed punk its the same Presenter/possible trainer......JZ

looking at this elephant, I would guess Roman born at CW in 83, rather than a 40 year old male. Just a guess.

Zych,
You need to give Mark the keys to the cash box and get off the midway more. Casey and I know it is a cage act as nothing was riding on anything else. GGW!!!! I bet you that punk and the two nosed cow he didn't come close. GGW didn't have a European style he had a GGW/American style, as did Charly. The animals came the side and sat around the cage. They did not come in the back and sit in the front.

This elephant is called Big Boy, belonging to the Fuentes-Gasca family. He is billed as "el elefante de los miliones de dollares".
Circo Chino de Pekin is one of the units of the Fuentes empire, so named because they use some Chinese troupes there.
The guy in white presenting Big Boy and applauding is not less than Gino Maravilla: the very same that achieves the quadruple.

I think that would be the Mary that went from Corona to Billy Morris to the Montgomery Zoo.
