It seems that most Asian longer
ivory eventually cross or overlap
while African tusks splay outward
Perhaps Buckles can comment
I don't remember if it was here or another source, but Asians curl inward because of the right vegetation in the jungle. The Africans are mostly in the open plains. So the tusk s just grow straight.
very good:)

When Tommy was a punk on the Dailey Bros Circus His ivory pointed out straight to the sides. ( I used to worry that he wouldn't be able to load up in the railroad car because they were growing so wide. When loading he would rock from side to side, the Bull hand had to hold him until it was his turn then, then he would lunge fast into the car. I was afraid he would catch his tusk on the doors going in. Then later when Tony Diano bought him he slept on concrete. THAT IS WHEN HIS TUSK STARTED TO CROSS. I am not an expert on that subject, but I just always had that feeling. I was the first one to ever do mounts on Tommy. And we all know he was called " King Tusk " when he went on the RBB&B. I loved him very much as he was such a good boy.....Barbara.....
What show is this?
