I grew up in Winston-Salem and worked for RJ Reynolds for over 20-years. I can still remember Lou Jacobs sitting on a ring curb in Roanoke, VA, out of make-up, and smoking a "More". A unique 120mm cigarette in dark brown paper.
I have fond memories of the nights Lou and Jean would join us for dinner and Lou would bring his note book over and talk about gags long past and present. He would laugh with that deep Germanic laugh as he explained how they worked and the reactions from audiences. I hope those note books have been protected as they contained gems of the circus clown world.
