Ernest Borgnine was known as a good guy wherever he went. On film sets and locations, he was famous for being the first to arrive, the best prepared, and the most cooperative in getting his shots for the directors. He won his Best Actor Oscar for MARTY, in 1955, over competitors Frank Sinatra, James Cagney, Spencer Tracy, and the recently deceased James Dean. He became a favorite at the Milwaukee Circus Parade, happily greeting all who approached him. Borgnine died in 2012, at age 95.
