And he taught Masons their lengthy, intricate degree work, taking them to their 33rd Degree, the highest. All this teaching is not done from studying books, but is achieved strictly from memory, and Master Masons tediously monitor the progress of each new man. Every word must be perfectly recited throughout. It takes powerful intellect to advance through the rituals. Col. Woodcock had the mental acuity to memorize and teach these volumes of work to rosters of incoming Masons.

A number of big-time names might surprise you as to their rising to Master Masons. Just to name two, Roy Rogers and Clyde Beatty.
