#14 The Ortons

Pretty Hotsie Totsie!
Aunt Nellie the most enterprising of the Ortons, married a wealthy old gentleman named Hoogewaning who had dabbled in the Circus Business and had holdings in Ottumwa, Iowa that included the Municipal Building right down town.
As mentioned before when my folks went to the Cole Show nobody could eat in the Cook House unless they were employed so I spent that Summer with Aunt Nellie.
Not a pleasant experience, her husband "Hoagy", who was dying of Cancer, despised me and the feeling was mutual, sometimes she would have to stash me in one of the Apartments down town which was good since I could go to Movies whenever I wanted.
Poor Aunt Nellie was caught in the middle.
